Neil Myers (Mohawk, Turtle Clan) is a lifelong New Yorker, a ceramicist behind The Pizza Potter, and a licensed NYS Architect. Based out of a storefront studio in Ridgewood, Queens, he creates contemporary functional and decorative stoneware that honors his heritage through a modern lens. His geometric forms and carved, textured patterns are deeply inspired by traditional Haudenosaunee pottery and imagery, incorporating motifs such as skydomes and wampum belt patterns into the body of the ceramic vessels. He dynamically juxtaposes these traditional geometric textures with vibrant, contemporary bright colors. While his creative concepts are rooted in cultural expression, his architectural background acts as a supportive foundation, providing the structural discipline and spatial awareness needed to bring these complex clay forms to life. Operating under The Pizza Potter, Neil also embraces a playful, colorful sensibility by celebrating the plastic properties of clay and porcelain. He compares the high-heat kiln process to the baking of a wood fired pizza, noting that both mediums are defined by the exact moment they are fired, both require skilled preparation to come out of the fire just right. His unique pieces (pizzas) reflect a composition of cultural continuity, tactile clay traditions, and bold contemporary expressions.

You can find his works at the gift shop at the Iroquois Museum in Howes Cave NY or at a few select retailers around NYC and on rare occasion vending in person outdoors at NYC Street Fairs and Pow Wows.
